PODCAST: STORIES OF NORTHERN LIFE

Company The Sault Ste Maire Museum is a non-profit local community Museum with a mission to preserve and display the magnificent history and culture of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Challenge Produce a podcast with weekly episodes through the use of the archived collection of audio resources, articles, and documented stories, as well as conduct present-day one-on-one interviews to collect oral history.

Role Host, Researcher, Script Writer, Coordinator, Interviewee, Editor, Publisher, and Marketer

Process Brainstorm subjects and/ or people to talk to Research Then I break it down into 2 styles: Monolgouge Style Research topics Write engaging and informative scripts Interviews Correspond & Coordinate with Interviewees Research interviewee and subject matter Create unique questions Create a comfortable space to chat openly Record with dynamic microphones, and a Zoom HN4 Recorder Edit in Adobe Audition 2022 Publish with Anchor by Spotify Promote with graphics and short-form videos

Result - The Numbers Our first interview uploaded to Youtube reached 123 views and gained 13 new youtube subscribers. 1333 all-time plays (April 2023) Average of 32 listeners per episode 63 subscribers on Spotify (April 2023) 

Result - The Impact New interactions with local audiences through cross-marketing from interviewer promotion It created an active collection of oral histories for future generations to listen to and be stored at the museum
